The Body Shop Aloe Body Butter
The Body Shop Aloe product line is known for non-toxic ingredient lists. Most of the products I have tried are really good, too.
Aloe body butter is a good body moisturiser, it's not too greasy but not too light either. It has no smell. It leaves skin well moisturised.
The ingredients:
Agua, Aloe Barbadensis Gel, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Glycerin, Glycine Soja Oil, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Theobroma Cacao Butter, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, Dimethicone, Caprylyl Glycol, Lanolin Alcohol, Bertholletia Excelsa Nut Oil, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Tocopherol, Citric Acid
Four of the ingredients have a score above 2 in Skindeep, i.e. can be hazardous. But none has a score above 3 which is really good.
- Cyclopentasiloxane has a score of 3 which makes it low to medium hazard. It's linked to cancer, which is nasty, however it requires large doses for it to be dangerous.
- PEG-100 Stearate has a score of 3 which makes it low to medium hazard. It's linked mostly to contamination rather than effect on human body.
- Dimethicone has a score of 3 which makes it low to medium hazard. It's linked to organ system toxicity (non-reproductive), if used in large amounts.
- Lanolin Alcohol has a score of 3 which makes it low to medium hazard. It's linked to allergies.
I really like this product. It works well, and the ingredient list is great. Highly recommended.
